For facilities compounding Category 1 and 2 CSPs – Daily: floors, work surfaces outside of the PEC and pass-through chambers.   Additionally, there must be a monthly application of a sporicidal agents on: ceiling, walls, floors, all other surfaces.

For facilities compounding Category 3 CSPs – Daily: floors, work surfaces outside of the PEC and pass-through chambers. Additionally, there must be a weekly application of a sporicidal agents on: pass-though chambers and the floors.   There must be a monthly application of a sporicidal agent to the walls and ceiling.  

For daily cleaning and disinfecting of non-hazardous compounding environments (SEC) Contec recommends Contec® Healthcare TB1-3300™ Disinfectant or PREempt Plus. 

For daily cleaning and disinfecting of Primary Engineering controls (PEC), Contec recommends Sterile TB1-3300.  

For weekly or monthly applications of sporicidal agents Contec Healthcare recommends PeridoxRTU in the SEC and Sterile PeridoxRTU in the PEC.   All of these products comply with USP <797>.

USP <800> requires the use of disinfectants, but more importantly, USP <800> requires the use of an agent for decontamination.   Contec Healthcare recommends the use of PeridoxRTU in the C-SEC and Sterile PeridoxRTU in the C-PEC.   PeridoxRTU complies with USP <800> standards.

You must develop a protocol for Environmental Sampling, both on surfaces and viable air sampling.   These sampling results can help you identify area for process improvement with your staff.
